About Half Done

Well, I'm about half way through this class now. Got through headlines, yay. Now we are on features. It's like the news in a story. This week we had to do a news feature. After an hour or so I decided on a story about the summer reading program at the library on post (base for you Air Force people). Writing the story wasn't hard. Comming up with the idea and questions for the interview, that was a bit more difficult. Had I gotten a second source for the story, I would have been the only person to pass. Nobody ever passes the first features assignment. I argued the point that I had all the information I needed for the story with the first interview. Appariently, a second source is always needed. Oh well. Did score higher than the other four people I know.
Monday we get to start using the cameras for the photojournalism part of the course. We will be using Nikon Dh1's. Thanx tax payers.
That's it for this time. I'll put the news feature on here sometime this week so y'all can see it.

Headlines Suck

Headlines are helpfull little things on the top of stories in newspapers and other things. This is true unless you are the one trying to write them. Headlines are these evil little things designed you ruin your day. Certain sizes, fonts, lengths and a whole lotta work to get just the right number of letters and words. We don't need to learn how to count and line up these things, there are computer programs through out the Air Force. Oh well "Be the monkey. Do the trick. Get the banana"The headline day here was the worst day so far. I got my lowest grade in that class, I got smartmouthed with some female instructor. To be fair though, she did talk down to me and someone else first.
Next week we start the features part. Most people hate it. Features is when we write "human interest" types of stories. I can't wait. I think that I will do real good in that and the photography part. Guess we'll see.
