Dead car

I was sitting in my car this morning listening to my iPod studying for my 7 level test when my car shut off. I figured that it shut off because it has an auto off timer when it is running on the battery. I was wrong. It turned off because the battery died. I guess that when I had the sterio put into the car I lost the battery saver timer. That's good to know, only wish I knew that before I killed the car.

I passed the test and the car sat in the parkinglot across base all day. I got it jumped and home, and it started a little bit ago. Not as strong as it normally does, but it started.

I won't sit in my car very long without it running again.

One year ago today

On this day last year I re-enlisted for another four years. Yes, that will put me at 12 years three years from now when it is time to decide to go another round or get out. No, I haven't decided on staying in or leaving. We will see how ass-backwards the public affairs career field, and the rest of the Air Force, can become. I'm expecting a new assignment sometime in the next year. That might be the deciding factor in my decision.

Who needs sleep?

It's 12:30 in the A.M. here in Georgia and I'm pretty well awake. I should be sleeping, but I don't have the urge. There is quite the loud and visual thunderstorm outside. I doubt that is the reason I am awake though, since I normally sleep through those.

Black dog at night

Well, I just took Pedro out. You all remember him, he's 4 pounds and is black and tan. He hasn't had his collar on most of the weekend since I noticed a few bumps on his neck the other day. I'm not sure if they are from the collar or because him and another dog like to play rough with each other.

I went out with him just a bit ago and he took off after a cat across the street. Normally I can stop him before he gets to the street or stops when the cat jumps into a tree along the way. This time, however, neither of those happened and the cat ran into the yard across the street. Pedro decided to follow it in. After a couple of minutes of waiting and calling for my dog I decide that I might need to walk around the neighborhood to look for him so I go in and get my flashlight and head out with that and his collar.

I walk around a couple of blocks whistling and shaking the collar and don't find him. I figure that he knows the way home and if he isn't stuck in some random yard he would go back. Sure enough, I came walking up the driveway and he started barking at me from the back yard. I'm going to be sure and get the collar back on him before he goes out in the morning to chase cats, that way I can hear him in the neighborhood.

Queerification of fashion?

So, I went to buy pants the other day. It was the first time in years. Well, if you count the couple of pairs that housekeeping threw out in Baltimore, it would be the second time in years. I find the pants section of the department store and am quite saddened by what I see.

When did it become fashionable to buy pants that look faded, dirty and tight? What the hell? If I want my pants to be faded, I'll wear them until they fade, they will also develope little holes in them. And it won't cost me extra to do that myself. And why is it called a wash? It's more like a worn attempt. Why would anyone buy stuff that is "preworn"? That makes no sense, "Lets buy stuff that looks like we have had it for years, we'll be so cool." Keep lying to yourself.

I thought that when I seen the sign for the kind I wear I would be saved from queerity. But, it was not to be. Even my trusted brand has fallen victim to this atrocious mistake for style. After much searching I was able to find a couple of pairs of good ol' solid blue. They could be a bit baggier, but at least they aren't "washed."

Because you asked for it

I have been asked a couple of different times to start this blog back up. So, after just over a year away, Homie is back to tell you what he thinks about the goings on of the world and himself. Be sure to come back often and check this out, it's here for you.

Bye the bye: I have moved away from the old neighborhood so there will no longer be updates of Flashback Guy and there is nobody interesting in the new hood, sorry.

I'm back, YAY!!

So, I know what you are thinking. No, the base I was on was not attacked while I was there. But, apparentaly they got mortared the week after I left, right outside the building I worked in. Even without attacks, it was a long four months. I had fun though, maybe too much fun. I did get into a bit of trouble the last few weeks. Us enlisted believe that the officers and chief didn't like us at all. You could tell. Oh well, I pretty much got left alone for the most part. I was told that the pictures where what I needed to worry about and that's what I concetrated on. I also wrote a few stories.

I did get to know quite a few of the ladies over there. They seem to have liked the camera I carreid around. I only got to see Kelly once though. That sucked, we were 20 minutes apart and only got to hang out once.

I am still in the hotel. Maybe I will find a place tomorrow. I have decided to look at a condo house that is for rent. I am not looking in the neighborhood I lived in before. It is a bit hard to find one in the price range I want. I thought I had one found until it didn't have a stove or refridgerator. Kinda need those. Hopefully the condo has those and is cheap enough I don't have to start looking at apartments. I would hate to have neighbors that close.

That's all for now. Maybe I'll tell a few stories later.
